Jennifer Moore is reimagining what school can look like, and much of it happens outdoors. Based in northwest Fort Wayne, The SkyGarden offers nature-based educational enrichment and a Waldorf-inspired microschool for families seeking an alternative to traditional education, with additional forest-school sessions on a property in Huntington. Her programs invite children to learn through the seasons: outdoor play and storytelling for the youngest, hands-on themed learning for older kids, and a hybrid microschool that blends academics with music, art, and time in nature. Over the past five years, Jennifer has supported hundreds of local families, many of whom came from traditional schools looking for something that fit their child better.
With support from the Fortitude Fund, she is developing her outdoor forest-school site in Huntington and setting up tuition assistance for families with multiple children in the microschool. Her vision is to build the region’s first fully realized Waldorf-inspired school, a place where kids learn by doing, outdoors, and in community.
