1 in 5 students has high test anxiety.
For many college students, high anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues are standing in the way of academic success. Even more, getting the right treatment for mental health issues can be difficult to impossible for college students for a myriad of reasons.
This leaves many in a vicious cycle of mental health struggles negatively affecting their studies, which can further exacerbate issues with anxiety and depression.
As a professor, Dr. David Liu has experienced these struggles among his students firsthand. With a Ph. D. in Computer Science and Engineering, he knew there could also be an easily accessible solution students could use to break the cycle.
Although counseling apps have made getting mental health resources more accessible to everyone, David wanted to create a tool specific to college students that helps students take control of their mental health with 24/7 access to customized resources.
AI technology that guides, protects, and advocates for students’ mental health and academic success.
MindGPA uses AI technology to guide, protect, and advocate for students’ well-being and academic success.
The app is currently in its creation phase, and David hopes to launch a pilot program alongside the Purdue University Fort Wayne TRIO Student Support Service program, which aims to identify and provide services to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Ultimately, David hopes that MindGPA becomes the one of top telehealth providers in the United States for college student mental health and academic success.
